Appling v. Doyle

The ACLU represents five same-sex couples who have asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court to let them participate in a lawsuit that will decide whether the state’s newly enacted domestic partner law violates Wisconsin’s anti-gay marriage amendment. Anti-gay activists have asked the Wisconsin Supreme Court to strike down the domestic partner law as inconsistent with the marriage amendment. Learn more about this case here.

chroer v. Billington

Diane Schroer retired as a Colonel after 25 years of distinguished service in the Army. She was offered and accepted a job as a terrorism research analyst at the Library of Congress, but when she told her future supervisor that she was in the process of gender transition, they rescinded the job offer. The ACLU successfully represented her in a Title VII sex discrimination lawsuit against the Library of Congress. Learn more about her case here.
