This guide was set up so that
it could be easily used by people doing different kinds of jobs in different
kinds of campaigns. It should be useful for people trying to get legislatures
to pass state civil rights laws, to get cities and towns to pass local laws, to
get universities and businesses to adopt non-discrimination policies. It should
be useful for anyone trying to get any of those institutions to adopt a
domestic partnership policy. It should be useful to people doing overall
organizing, specific organizing inside or outside the LGBT community, and to
people lobbying, working with the media, and gathering information. It should
even be useful for people who are organizing for change that has nothing in
particular to do with lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender people.
