Hey Kentucky! Whatcha doing tomorrow?
If you’re in or near Louisville, Kentucky and you’re free at noon tomorrow, you might want to check this out. Several local LGBT organizations are planning a protest downtown in response to an incident at a local McDonald’s in which a group of gay men were called names like “faggot,” “bitch,” and “cocksucker” and then refused a refund. You might have heard about this already because the ACLU represents two of the men in a complaint to the Louisville Human Relations Commission.
Ryan Marlatt and Teddy Eggers, the ACLU's plaintiffs in this case, were visiting Louisville from Indianapolis with friends when the incident happened in July. They will be appearing at the protest tomorrow, in addition to Michael Aldridge, Executive Director of the ACLU of Kentucky, and representatives from the Fairness Campaign and the University of Louisville’s Lambda Law Caucus, commonGround, and Office of LGBT Services. More information about the protest, which will take place at noon tomorrow at the McDonald’s at 420 E. Market Street in downtown Louisville between Preston & Jackson Streets, can be found at the Fairness Campaign’s blog.
